Melinda Barker - Kindergarten Teacher of Platypus Pre-School
Hi I’m Melinda and I’m very excited to be the Kindy teacher in such a fun, warm and welcoming Centre at Country Kids Stanthorpe.
I was born and grew up in Stanthorpe before moving to Toowoomba to study teaching at Uni. I graduated from USQ with a Bachelor of Education and a major in Early Childhood in 2008. I worked as a relief teacher in the Mackay region for 6 months before moving back to Stanthorpe to teach in Warwick. I thoroughly enjoyed my teaching time in Primary schools but I am now thrilled to be working where my passion lies in Early Childhood. I believe the experiences children encounter in their early years are vital for lifelong learning.
My interests include shopping, travelling, scrapbooking and spending time with my family and friends.
My ambition as a Kindergarten Teacher is to make each and every child’s learning experience rich and fulfilling. I aim to do this by creating an open, safe and supportive environment where children are able to engage in a range of activities that are developmentally appropriate, related to their interests and encourage critical thinking.
Please feel free to drop in and discuss your child’s needs and learning progress at any time throughout the year.
The children at Country Kids love the way Melinda and her assistant Katie run the Kindergarten Program and all of us at Country Kids appreciates the extra work they do to make the Kindergarten a special place.
