Newsletter September 2011

We hope you enjoy our Spring newsletter.   I think we’re all ready to say goodbye to Winter, and will welcome some (hopefully) warmer days.   Spring time really is a gorgeous time of year in Stanthorpe.

We would like to wish all Dads and Grandads a very Happy Fathers Day on Sunday.   We hope you get spoilt!

A warm welcome is extended to our new children:

·       Tori in Nursery

·       Rebecca, Martha & Madison in Toddlers

·       Freddy, Ella & Jasmine in Senior Kindy

·       Tahlia & Kayden in Pre-School

We also welcome Melanie Zanatta back from maternity leave - great to have you back Mel.

DO-RE-MI MUSIC LESSONS

The children are enjoying seeing Penny each week, and it’s lovely to see them all participating and enjoying music!

DATE CLAIMER

Friday 25th November will be our Kindergarten Graduation Evening & BBQ.   This event is for the Platypus Pre-School Room children and their families.  We hope by having this event in the evening, all parents will be able to attend.

CAR PARK REMINDER

Parents, please remember that we are not permitted to make a right turn out of our driveway into Davadi Street.  Thank you for your co-operation.

SUN SMART REMINDER

Now that we’re (hopefully!!) going to be having some nice warm days, please remember that children must have shirts that cover their shoulders, ie no singlet tops.  Thank You!

TOY CATALOGUE

We have toy catalogues!   So, if you’d like to place an order (great Christmas gifts), please take one home.   Could all orders be back to us by Friday 30th September please.

SEPTEMBER EVENTS

Upcoming events this month include:

Thursday 8th September is Pyjama Day.  This is a fundraising day for The Pyjama Foundation, which provides literary support to children in foster care.

Would you like to dress your children in their pyjamas for this day?

“It is a lot more fun when you can just show up to work in your pyjamas”   Angelina Jolie

Friday 16th

Pirate Dress-up Day!   This should be loads of fun!

24th to 30th Italian Week.    Lots of Italian themed activities this week, including art, craft, culture, language & food.

Country Kids supports many charities including Daffodil Day which raises money for cancer research.

Thank you to all the parents who dressed their child in yellow last Friday, and donated money. We still have some merchandise for sale on the front counter if you’d like to support this important cause.

CHILD CARE REBATEWOULD YOU LIKE LOWER CHILDCARE FEES?  Remember that you can now elect to have your childcare rebate that you receive from Centrelink paid directly to us.  What this means for you is that your gap fees will be considerably lower.  You should have received information from Centrelink about this, if not please contact them to arrange this.

DONATIONS PLEASE???

Would anyone have any big logs, big granite rocks, or river pebbles that would be able to donate to us?   We are going to be setting up a natural garden area for the children soon, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

From the office:  We received a direct deposit in May which had no name attached to it.  If this is yours, please let us know.

Meeting: We invite all parents/guardian to our monthly staff/parent meetings from 6:30pm on Tuesday 6th September.

NEWS FROM THE ROOMS:

Nursery

Miss Katrina will shortly begin work as our full time Director, and assisting in Nursery.  Miss Sarah will be the acting group leader of Numbat Nursery however Katrina will still spend time in the Nursery with Sarah.

The babies have been exploring jelly play, which some of them like, and some of them definitely do not.  We’ve done a ‘space collage’, made alien hand prints.   The water mat is also popular.

Toddlers

We’ve made flying saucers and aliens, being doing lots of finger painting, dot painting, spring themed arts, colourful flowers, collages, and always a favourite – bubbles!

Junior Kindy

We’ve made our own solar system, which is hanging up from the ceiling, with planets, UFOs, aliens, a rocket and stars.  We’ve also enjoyed the volcano in the sandpit experiment.  We’re now finishing off our winter theme, and looking forward to beginning spring activities.

Senior Kindy

We’ve been doing lots of work with Science and Space experiments, as well as space related arts and crafts.

We’re looking forward to starting a spring theme!!

Pre-School

The Pre-Schoolers have been so busy creating some incredibly individual space arts and crafts.  We’ve talked about astronauts, the moon, what astronauts might eat, moon rocks, how the planets orbit, why the stars twinkle, and made a bi-carb soda and vinegar rocket which the children said they loved. “Can we do it again?” We have also been learning all about “gravity”.

We are also very excited to announce we now have a new interactive whiteboard, which we’ll be using for literacy and numeracy activities.

News from the Kitchen

As always, we encourage our parents/guardian to give us meal ideas for the children at Country Kids as part of the balanced nutritious meals we provide FREE to your children.

Immunisations

If your child has had an immunisation lately, could you please give a copy of this immunization to us, as we need to ensure that all immunisations are up to date.   Thank you for your co-operation.

Thank you once again for giving us the privilege of caring and educating your beautiful children.
